Being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is just so much fun!  Recently, I watched a video on the Demos only Stampin' Up! website.  One of the concept artisits showed how to do the Reverse Masking technique.  It looked like a cool idea – so off I went to try it.  And, I am about to share with you the results.  Here's the deal.  I will show you 4 cards,  and all I ask of you is  to select your favorite of the 4.  Please leave a message to share your pick.  Thanks for playing along!

4.  Marina Mist/Island indigo

For my cards, I cut a mask using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die from a 4.25 x 5.5 piece of scrap cardstock..  Rather than using the cut out butterfly, I used the c.s. that the butterfly image was cut from.  So, there is a hole where the butterfly was cut out.

Next, place that mask on your Whisper White c.s. (4 x 5.25).  Use post it notes to cover up all the exposed white areas EXCEPT the white butterfly image.

Create a spritzer by filling the Stampin' Spritzer (p. 179 in the catalog), about 3/4 full of rubbing alcohol.  I used 91% rubbing alcohol.  Then add 5-6 drops of reinker of your choice.  As you can see, I chose lighter colors for spritzing.

Shake up the color in the Stampin' Spritzer and carefully spritz your exposed butterfly. A word of caution – don't get carried away.  Just a light misting is all you need as the color will darken a bit when it dries.  But, if you spray too much, then the color will run and ruin your crisp image.

As soon as you finish spritzing, carefully lift up the post-it notes and c.s. mask leaving the piece of Whisper White c.s. with the butterfly image behind to dry.

Select a contrasting color ink to stamp the En Francais image.  For both my Pool Party and my Marina Mist butterflies, I chose Island Indigo ink.  For the other two I used Calypso Coral and Riding Hood Red.  Turn the En Francais stamp face up and ink it up.

Take the spritzed butterfly image and gently turn it over and place it face down on the En Francais stamp .  Press down on the image to get a good transfer of ink.  Lift up the butterly and adhere to your card base with Stampin Dimensionals.  Decorate as you choose.

I used a 4-1/4 x 11" card base scored at 5-1/2.  For two of my cards, I chose Whisper White c.s. card bases.  The other two card bases are Island Indigo and Calypso Coral.  The little heart is  punched from the Owl Builder Punch.
