Yesterday I posted a cutout card with a baby theme. Today I am going to show you the technique I used. But, I will use the Flower Patch Stamp set with the Flower Flair Framelits. The technique I use is similar to one that you may have seen used with the Circle Card Framelit.
- Using a 4" x 5-1/4" pice of Whisper White cardstock, position the framelits of choice near the edge of your cardstock but make sure that the framelit is entirely on the cardstock. Notice that my paper is horizontal. this is a must! Of course, place a clear plate under the cardstock.
- Look closely in the picture above at my watermark. It is significant because it is just above the edge of my 2nd clear plate for my Big Shot. I am not cutting all of the framelit. Only the portion that has a clear plate above and below the cardstock will be cut.
- This picture gives you a better view. Make sure that the top clear plate is positioned straight on the cardstock and roll it through the Big Shot.
- This is what your cardstock looks like now. The next step is to cut the small pieces connecting the flower with paper snips.
- Using the matching Photopolymer stamp set - Flower Patch, make sure that your stamp is oriented to match the cut out flower. Do this step prior to putting the stamp on your block. Because the stamp is clear, you can see through it making it easier to line up.
- Ink & stamp. This will produce a full flower.
- Because we want the cutout edges of these flowers to show, we must cut the front flap of our base card. I place the above piece on my card front & mark with a pencil where I need to cut.
- Notice that the marks I made are lined up in the "grooves" of my Paper Trimmer. Carefully cut ONLY the fron of the card.
- I used Paper Snips to cut the edge connected to the back of the card. Now the fun begins! Decorate your card as you desire. Here is a picture of my finished card.
I was so focused on my technique that I just noticed how much white space there is in the lower left corner of my card.. After adding a few Candy Dots, this is what my card looks like now.

What a cool card! The puppy is teething and biting me so I put him in the crate and came up to use the computer! I can only take so much! Anyway, I really like this card and the steps seem doable with some practice! Thanks for the photo tutorial! The colors are so bright and cheerful. The black and white looks just like a trellis for those beauties to cling to and climb! The bow and the dots are great touches. I need to go backwards and check out the rest of the posts AP (after puppy)! They had given each litter mate a “J” name and his was Jack but we need to change that! More later…..
