Swirly Bird is such a fun set with a myriad of possibilities. One more card from this set and then I will move on to other products.
Our friend and blog reader Chris R. asked how you could possibly use the bird in this set. This one is for you Chris! It's a natural for the bird to sit on the nest with eggs waiting to hatch. After stamping those images, I banner cut this piece and popped it on top of a Mint Macaron Scribbly cut with a Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Die. A double Linen Thread Bow adds texture.
The background was created by adding water to a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock followed by drops of Crushed Curry Reinker. I used a small paintbrush to spread the ink around. After this piece dried, I stamped some texture in Crushed Curry Ink with some dots found in the Swirly Bird Stamp Set.
A strip of striped paper from the English Garden Designer Series Paper was added just above the bottom of the watercolored background to provide an anchor for my card. It is topped with a banner cut from Mint Macaron Cardstock. The sentiment from Garden in Bloom is stamped in Soft Suede Ink & popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Finally, the inside of the card is also stamped with an image found in Garden in Bloom. A few butterflies from the same stamp set add a touch of whimsy.

Another duh moment, it took me awhile to get it – the nest! This is definitely bright and cheery. Love all your little artistic elements on here. The bird reminds me of a gold finch. Speaking of a gold finch there is a dead one over by a florist shop and Ted and I were over there yesterday. He pounced on it but I got him away from it before he could eat it or even think much about eating it. I saw it last week. Not sure what happened to the pretty little bird. Anyway, I mentioned a drink so he headed down the block where the bicycle shop puts out a bucket for dogs to drink out of. It looks like so far only Teddy has been drinking it. The owner was showing bikes to a customer and he bent down to call Ted over and Ted thanked him by drooling on his shoe. Oh well! Oh, sorry back to the card…..not sure which card I liked the best but something about that little boat and the broiling hot sun and the waves really made me smile. I could tell you another story about the baby geese at Central College if you would like….
